I am very saddened to here about the passing of John. I met him through our common passion for cars. I always enjoyed spending time with him at the track. My condolences to his entire family.
Photo i think has his car on far right, mine was green one 4th in....

I would like to express my sadness to the O’Connell family, of hearing about John's passing. I met John in high school and continued being friends with him through college, our single life and married lives. He was a good guy and someone that you could always count on. He would always tell it like it was and was hopeful and upbeat. We had some pretty good times together and lots of good memories. While he taught me how to ski, I convinced him to go skydiving. I could never beat him at racquetball or race car video games. John, you were a big part of my life. I will miss you buddy. Doug Neiman

John was the perfect example of courage! He fought his illness since age 39 with dignity and strength! He lived his life to the fullest! He loved his wife, daughters and family deeply. He loved God and accepted his will even though he fought hard to stay on earth with his family. In the end he accepted his destiny with grace! John will be in Heaven watching over his beautiful family! May he rest in peace. Sincerest sympathy to the family. Much love, Diane and George DePasquale

To the entire O' Connell Family,
My deepest condolences for the loss of John, my best friend for the past 38 years. Each of us will remember the wonderful times we were blessed to spend with him: his kindness, sense of humor, easy going nature, love of family and, especially, love of Our Lord..
When I met John at Providence College in 1986 through John W, we quickly bonded and over the following decades he became a brother to me. We especially enjoyed the times in Florida and when JW came, the three of us would talk about our many adventures together for hours.
He deeply loved his wife, Kittii, his three daughters, his parents, his brother and sister and their children. As you know, John and I travelled to different parts of the world and, even in remote places, he would always find a way to connect with home.
There are so many memories we each have of him and will continue to hold dear forever. He was the most courageous gentleman I ever met and I will miss him.
With respect and admiration for a life well lived,
Rob Martin
