I am saddened to learn of Bernie's passing, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. As I read his obituary, though saddened, I couldn't help but smile. As I read on I thought, "Yes, that describes Bernie". He introduced me to the Neon Chicken restaurant saying that I had to try it. He was one of a kind. It was a privilege to have known Bernie. I will remember him fondly.

Chris and Tom and the entire Gullotta family
I knew Bernie since he came into this world. I did know him well unfortunately. Our paths crossed many times working backstage or at “strike” after one of Chris’ summer shows I could always tell Bernie was an intelligent man and he saw the world differently than I did, and that fascinated me. He was a bright star that gave those around him light. God bless you Bernie you will be missed

Dear Chris and Tom,
Gretchen and I are so sad for the loss of Bernie. He and you both have been on our minds and you are ALWAYS in our hearts!
Mom says (from her new assisted living center in Burlington, VT): "Bernie was a kind person. I always loved his energy and his smile. He was always a bright light. I really feel for you and am so sorry that you've lost him. You have his spirit now for sure."
I send my love, my heart, and my memories of a funny and special guy whose blue eyes glistened.
Love, Holly and Gretchen

Dear Chris and Tom,
How deeply saddened I was to open the Citizen this morning and read Bernie's obituary.
Had I been aware sooner I would have attended calling hours and the memorial service.
I have lost six of my former students now and each one breaks my heart. Bernie was a very special, sweet little kindergartner and that is how I will always remember him. He was a very fortunate child to have had the two of you for his parents. I know how you always advocated for him and loved him. My deepest sympathy goes out to you both.
Sincerely,
Geri Ross

Dear Chris and Tom,
What a beautiful tribute to an amazing young man. My heart and love and prayers are with you as you celebrate Bernie’s life and wonderfully unique perspective. Though I didn’t have the privilege of knowing him personally, I am so touched by his simple yet profound statements that happiness is the key to success, and his wish that we care for the sweet creatures called cats. If we all heeded this advice, the world surely would be a better place.
Hugs and love always,
Ann

Dear Chris and Tom, At times like this words fail me. I remember Bernie as an active little kid. I remember the Halloween he wanted to go as a vampire and was upset because his face was totally white. His complaint was "not enough blood". Luckily he was a very reasonable kid when it was explained that Dracula was a very neat drinker, he was willing to go out trick or treating with one blood drop on the side of his face. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Mary
