I have only become aware of Pat's passing now. For many years we holidayed in the same "compound" in Eastham, Cape Cod. Pat and George rented the same cottage as we did, so our paths crossed briefly. They were a delightful couple, caring and funny! When we moved to a new place in the Cape they visited us and I remember they brought beautiful flowers. This gesture was typical of the kindness they had shown us whenever our paths crossed. Pat always sent pictures of her beloved granddaughters with Christmas cards, so I feel I have watched them grow up.
Sincere, if very belated, sympathy to the whole family.

Dear Alison and Amy. Thank you for your Christmas card and note about the passing of your Mom that you sent to my Mom, Isabel Higgins. It is a sweet gesture that you honored her by sending her cards. My Mom has been suffering from dementia for the past 6 or 7 years. She lives at home now with 24 hour care. She seems content and is happy to be in her home. We put up a little tree for her this year, and every year. Each year, I get out the beautiful painted goose eggs ornaments, that I think your Mom gave to my Mom. (I hope I got this right....the ornaments are already packed away for another year in Mom's attic so I can't check the name). I always thought that your Mom painted them, but I don't know if that is true. What I do know, is that they had their special box, marked from your Mom, and that even in her dementia those were special to her. They'll be passed down between myself and my brothers when she is gone.
I pray you find comfort in your good memories of you Mom.
Sincerely, Betsy Higgins
PS. Please forgive my not sending a real card. My handwriting is atrocious, and I am madly packing and getting ready to head out to AZ tomorrow in the wee hours, for the birth of my granddaughter, but I wanted to respond so that you know that Mom was not ignoring your note. She was sad when I pointed out the note to her, but only for the spilt second that any memory stays with her..... I guess that's the silver lining.

Our deepest condolences to the family. Pat was a wonderful woman and, from my experiences with her at Town Hall, I found her to be kind, caring, helpful and always with a beautiful smile.

To Pat's family~
I had the pleasure of meeting your mom when I worked at Munson's Chocolates. Pat and George would frequently come in to buy candy. They were truly nice people. I am very sorry for your loss.
