Obituary of Robert V. Maloney

Robert V. Maloney, 83, of South Glastonbury, CT, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017, surrounded by family.  Bob was born on August 3, 1934 son of Patrick and Anna Mae (Crowley) Maloney. Bob leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Iana (Giupponi) Maloney of thirty years, his step daughter Lea and two step granddaughters, Eliana and Erin of Glastonbury, CT., two sons Sean Maloney of  Plainville, CT and Timothy Maloney of Avon, CT, his grandchildren, Jordan Mae, Lila, JT and a great grandson Blake,.  He was predeceased by a son Mark Maloney. Bob graduated from Hartford High School in 1952 and UCONN in 1956 with a bachelor’s degree in English.  He immediately enrolled in Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI and was commissioned in December1956.  He spent ten years in the Navy and retired with the rank of Lt Commander.  He became a specialist expert in demolition in Boston and Key West and was among the youngest officers to qualify to command at sea.  Bob had a notable career with Cigna and was an Agent of Emeritus with Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co.  As a CFP he obtained top national honors.  He was just recently honored as among the elite who achieved what only a handful ever do. He was a 50 year member of the Million Dollar Round Table with 25 years as Top of the Table, CLU and CFP.  Bob was a licensed captain who loved traveling and boating.  He also enjoyed many sports such as tennis and golf.  Among very few, Bob has been able to experience life to the fullest.  He had countless qualities, most prominent was that he was a man of integrity, generosity and confidence.  Bob was loving and loyal to his family, friends and business associates.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 3rd at 10:00 am in St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury, CT.  There are no calling hours. Burial with full military honors will be held privately for immediate family in Holy Cross Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr. Wallingford, CT 06492.
