Obituary of Martha Mozell Allen Rosario
Martha Mozell Allen Rosario, 83, of Glastonbury, CT died Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Hartford Hospital. Born April 1, 1934 in Oxford, North Carolina, daughter of the late Curtis and Alice Allen, she had lived in Glastonbury for the past 18 years. Having grown up in rural North Carolina, Martha was a graduate of North Carolina A & T University. Martha most notably relocated to the Washington D.C. area, the Williamsburg, Virginia area, and then finally to Glastonbury, CT where, after retiring from her working career, she lived with her son and his family. Prior to her retirement she dedicated her working career to public service, serving as a teacher, a counselor for young girls for the District of Columbia, and most recently prior to her retirement, as a social service representative and supervisor for the Washington DC government for over 20 years. She remained connected to the North Carolina and Washington DC/Maryland areas and rooted in her Christian faith where prior to coming to Connecticut, she was for many years a co-youth counselor for the Young Adult Choral Ensemble of Carmody Hills Baptist Church, with her late sister Mary Yancey. In Connecticut, she was a faithful member of the Keenagers Bible Study at the Crossroads Community Cathedral in East Hartford. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Phillip and Caron Rosario of Glastonbury, and her three grandchildren, Cacie Lynne Rosario, Ian Phillip Rosario, and Jon Hector Charles Rosario all of Glastonbury. She is also survived by her brother Benjamin Allen and sister Catherine Russell both of Maryland. She was predeceased by a brother James Allen and a sister Mary Yancey. In addition, Martha is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends, in the various places that she called home. Funeral service will be Thursday Nov. 30 at 3:30pm in the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Burial will be in the Heritage Cemetery, Waldorf, MD. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:30 until 3:30pm.
