Obituary of Calvin L. Bushnell

Calvin Lawrence Bushnell of Glastonbury, Connecticut, originally of Beasley, TX, passed from this life on October 24, 2017 after a long illness. Fortunate to have been born August 29, 1933 to Louise and Leon Bushnell of Beasley, TX and also fortunate to have two wonderful sisters :  Lorene Moissinac and her husband Al of Houston, TX and the late Virginia Werlla and her husband Charles of Rosenberg, TX. His late wife Camille (Salonia) Bushnell, his beloved wife of 49 years, predeceased him in January of 2006. He leaves his beloved friend, Mary M. MacGregor of South Glastonbury, CT. Mr. Bushnell is survived by his three daughters, Candace Bushnell of Sag Harbor, New York; Alyssa and Richard Allen of Emigrant, Montana and Deirdre and Greg Driscoll of Eastford, CT, along with his three precious grandchildren, Ely, Oliver and Henry Driscoll. Mr. Bushnell was fortunate in his 84 years to have many dear friends: Murray Katz, Theresa McLaughlin, Ken MacGregor, Irv Miglietta, Rita Jaso, John and Wendy McVey, his dear Beverly Cleveland, all the members of “The Committee” and his oldest friend, Leroy Holub, of Beasley, Texas. Special love goes to Dr. Susan Slovin of Sloane Kettering in New York who was instrumental in his added years of life. His love for his friends was endless, as was his devotion and love to his pets, especially Skoshi and Bowdoin. Beasley, Texas always held a special place in Cal’s heart and he credited his parents and upbringing for forming the person he became. Graduating from Rice University with a degree in Engineering in 1955, Mr. Bushnell accepted a job at Pratt and Whitney and became a member of the Engineering family. Pratt and Whitney nourished his potential with a program that allowed a young engineer with an opportunity to contribute to the Company’s efforts. A burial will service celebrating Cal’s life and ministry will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 120 Sigourney Street, Hartford, CT at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Calling hours will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday evening, October 30 at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. For online condolences please visit www.mulryanfh.com.
