Obituary of Robert C. Dugger, Sr.

Robert C. Dugger, Sr., 93, of Vernon, beloved husband of Phyllis (Beaumont) Dugger, died Monday October 2, 2017 at Rockville Hospital. Born February 20, 1924 in Washington, Indiana, son of the late Frederick J. and Alice (Comparios) Dugger, he had lived in East Hartford, moving to Vernon in 1970. Prior to his retirement he was a salesman for Imperial Oil in South Windsor. Bob served in the US Coast Guard during World War II in both the Atlantic and in the South Pacific aboard the USS Arthur Middleton and USS Wakefield. Bob and Phyllis were married for 70 years. Bob was an avid UCONN women’s basketball fan. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family at his pool and taking his grandchildren on day trips and teaching them to play basketball. Bob also loved his Boston Terriers. Besides his wife he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Robert and Janice Dugger of Glastonbury, a daughter and son-in-law Charlene and Jeffrey Rubacha of Manchester, three grandchildren, Suzie Scheffler and her husband Jim, Katie Goodrich and her husband Dave and Rob Dugger and his fiancée Kate, two great grandsons Andy and Mikey Scheffler and his brother-in-law Ticker Beaumont and his wife Jean of Maine and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Dugger who was killed in the Battle of the Bulge. Funeral service and burial will be private.
