Still in a state of shock when I received the sad news of Penelope's passing on Tuesday. Pen and I go back through the years to the 60's. We had lots of laughs whenever we spoke or got together. For events like my Birthday, or hers' we always exchanged cards and fun things. Pen loved to draw cartoon like pictures…a few still framed hang on the walls of my apartment. We used to got to Met Museum of Art and afterwards across the street nearby have a drink at the great Stanhope Hotel which sadly is no longer there. I have so many wonderful memories of Pen and our old crowd and fun moments through the years. One of my favorite of pictures is one of two kitties sitting close with backs to the viewer with their little tails wagging….just sitting looking out through the clouds in the sky with a giant yellow sun shining through. The words she wrote above the pic say it all about our friendship: "A FRIEND CAN MAKE SOMETHING SIMPLE LIKE JUST HANGING OUT AND WATCHING THE WORLD FLOAT BY……TURN INTO AN EXTRAORDINARY DAY."
Dearest Penelope, I shared many an extraordinary day with you through the years.
I will always carry you and your wonderful smile in my heart. Goodbye dear Friend, until we meet again.
My love and thoughts go out to you dear Art. She loved you so.
Peace and Love,
Judy Cohen

Penelope, feel like you skipped out on me, but I'm guessing you're with your beloved mother and father (give them my love). Hope you all have a good laugh on us, still here struggling along. I'm still processing your passing, so in denial a good deal of the time that this has happened and trying to get used to the idea of the finality of it. I know how tired you were of the struggle and it comforts me to know that you have peace at last. Ran across a note you wrote me at tree time after your parents had passed on, and you were commenting on all the baubles your mother had left for us to give at tree time. I'm still wearing them happily and think of you & Helene, and Neil. I wish there were some way you could let me know if Sigma is there with you all, and the poodles. So many things I think of to say to you that I didn't, and hope you can get them telepathically. Godspeed, good friend and sister. I'll always love you, PEW! Tramp (thanks, Helene, it fits), aka/ LL
