Obituary of William Bailey

William Bailey, 84, of Glastonbury, husband of the late Barbara (Braun) Bailey and fiancé of Phyllis Smiegocki, died Sunday January 1, 2017 at home. Born February 7, 1932 in East Glastonbury, son of the late Francis and Isabelle (DelMastro) Bailey, he was a lifelong resident. Prior to his retirement in 1997 he had worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Bill was a long-time fire fighter, having started at the age of 16, and was a member of the Glastonbury Fire Department Company #4. Bill enjoyed gardening was an avid fisherman, enjoyed cruises, Ocean City, MD and loved Foxwoods. He is survived by 2 sons and their wives, William F. and Kathleen Bailey of Guilford, Ricky L. and Mellissa Bailey of Chaplin, 2 daughters Sandy Bailey of Manchester and partner John Gianopoulos, and Susan Bailey and partner Brian Maher of North Carolina. Bill had 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Saturday Jan. 7 from 10am to 12 noon. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery, South Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to CT. Firefighters Memorial, CT.
