Obituary of Noella (Bolduc) Bertuzzi
Noella Blanche (Bolduc) Bertuzzi passed away peacefully on the evening of December 5, 2016. She was 93 years old, just days short of her next birthday on Christmas. She is survived by her devoted husband George Bertuzzi of Glastonbury, her son Raymond Bertuzzi of Hartford and his husband Gerson Escobar, her daughter Carole Fike of Manchester and her husband Ray Fike, a granddaughter Erica Sheppard and her husband Danny Sheppard, and finally her adored great granddaughter Ava. She will be missed by her surviving brothers Gaston Bolduc in Florida, and Regent Bolduc in Maine. She was a loving wife to George; their marriage lasted 70 astonishing years. She was a loving confidante to her brothers and sisters, a wonderful and supportive mother, and a playful grandparent. Noella led an eventful life - she was born in Lewiston, Maine on Christmas Day in 1922 into a large family. She worked hard and long in her life. She left school early to help support her family working in local shoe shops and in the boatyards of Portland, Maine. She came to Hartford to work in the aircraft industry as World War II overtook her generation. She met George in Hartford; they became sweethearts before he went off to fight in Europe. When he returned in 1946 they married and began a family they raised on their fruit farm in South Glastonbury. She continued to work in factories in the Hartford area, but loved working on the farm with George picking blueberries and apples. She was a splendid cook and baker of pies, a champion bowler, and an exceptionally skillful craftswoman who enjoyed hooking rugs, beading, and crocheting among many other talents. She doted on her dogs and cats. On so many levels, and in so many ways she will be remembered by those who were privileged to know her. Her final months were made comfortable by the extraordinary level of care and support she received at the Hebrew Home in West Hartford. At the family's request, there will only be a private graveside service for the immediate family. Please do not send flowers - instead the family requests that any memorial contributions be made to: Hebrew HealthCare, Dementia Care Services, C/O Pamela Atwood, 1 Abrahms Boulevard,
