Obituary of Robert A. Reed
Robert A. Reed, affectionately known as “Boz” to his friends and family, passed away November 11 at the age of 69. He was loved for his kindness, creativity, and sense of humor. He leaves behind his sister Greta, brother John and his wife Pat, five nieces and nephews, and a large group of friends, many of whom he had known since childhood. Boz grew up in Glastonbury and loved its farms, woods, and hiking trails. He moved away to attend the University of Hartford and Ithaca College, and later the School of Visual Arts in New York. Even though he resided in a few states, his loyalty to family and friends that started in kindergarten brought him back to his hometown Glastonbury, where he resided in his later years. Along with his gentleness and kindness, Boz was highly creative. He was an accomplished pen and ink artist and showed a whimsical element in many of his drawings. While still in grade school he and his close friend, Henry McNulty, created Dead Tree Comics and WBOZ, which featured tape-recorded skits. The duo later founded Lord Ingraham Productions and made over 20 short films, including “Slobman,” and “The Gumshoe Caper.” In the late 1970's, Boz reviewed movies for WCNX in Middletown Ct. under the pen name Joshua Dibble. Boz loved to read nonfiction books about American and European history. He had an unfailing and comprehensive memory concerning historical events, music, and movies. He was an avid traveler, visiting many cities in the lower 48 states, Mexico and Europe. On many occasions, he traveled with his father or friends. He loved investigating points of history plus the natural environment, art museums, and large and small cities. He donated to many charities for the preservation of wildlife and the natural habitat. A wake will be held at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Thursday, November 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Services will be at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 2183 Main St., Glastonbury on Friday, November 18, at 2:00. Contributions may be made to the Connecticut Audubon Center at Glastonbury.
