Dear Barton Family,
I was John's roommate at Colgate (KDR )for sophomore year, 1973-74. My home was Glastonbury at the time. John and I became good friends and kept in touch for many years after school, through the early 1990's, but we lost touch after that. I have not lived in Glastonbury since that time, but I have family still living there. My sister, Joan Scola (now Ludwig) actually worked for John for a period of time.
John was truly a genuine, kind and caring person. He had a way of simplifying things and I remember him giving me advice at school which helped me a great deal. We pften talked about various entrepreneurial projects together and we even started one dealing with a water heater which did not need a storage tank. I supplied that patent attorney advice and John was the business man, Unfortumately, we never really got that one off the ground, but we had a lot of fun anyway,
I remember John never really having to study that hard at school because he grasped things so easily, I was always amazed at how easy some things came to him,
I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. I loved John's quiet, but clever sense of humor. his strength of moral character and his positive outlook on life. He was a wonderful man and I am sure a great husband and father. My prayers go out to you all.
Love and Paryers,
Dan Scola

When you walked into our lives, you not only swept my sister off her feet, you swept me off my feet too! I knew from the first second I met you what a special human being you were. I was in awe of how kind, intelligent, humble and funny you were! The way my sister's face lit up and smiled when she was by your side was nothing short of a miracle. You are and will always be the "love of her life"! And I will always love you too! You showed me what patience, tenderness, peacefulness and courage is! I am a better man because of you, and I will always remember you and that miraculous day you walked into our lives. Rest in peace my brother-in-law!!!
