Obituary of Daniel T. Denning, Sr.

Daniel T. Denning, Sr., 66, of East Hartford, beloved husband of Jo-Ann (Giansanti) Denning, passed away unexpectedly June 7, 2016 at Westerly Hospital in Rhode Island. He was born on August 25, 1949 to the late Charles and Lorraine Denning in Hartford. Dan served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was stationed in the Gulf of Tonkin aboard the USS Kearsarge; he was honorably discharged as an Airman 2nd class. For 35 years he was employed by the United States Postal Service in Windsor. He enjoyed summers at his vacation home in Charlestown, RI and also loved to fish and hunt, especially with his nephew Justin. He was a member of the VFW in Windsor as well. Dan dedicated himself to his family and was most proud of his granddaughters Kayleen and Shayleen. His dream of Kayleen graduating from East Catholic High School was fulfilled just days before his passing. Dan was predeceased by his son, Daniel T. Denning, Jr. Besides his wife Jo-Ann, Dan is survived by his daughter Colleen Denning and her husband Charles Landry. His granddaughters, Kayleen Cabrini Denning, and Shayleen Mary Landry. His sisters, Donna-Lee Stewart,Terri-Ann Breton, Kathleen Dyer and her husband Theodore Torrey. His brother Kenneth Denning and his wife Diana; as well as an extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with the best of lifelong friends, the postal workers, Mike Cavanaugh, Ernie, Pete, and Kenney. Calling hours will be held Sunday, June 12, from 1pm to 3pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Monday, June 13, 2016 at 10am in St. Rose Church, 33 Church St, East Hartford. Burial will follow with military honors in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Hartford. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Field of Dreams, P.O.
