Obituary of Nellie Katherine Waine

Nellie Katherine Waine (nee Bemer) died at home with her children at her side. She grew up in Glastonbury, graduated from Glastonbury High School and for a short time worked in Hartford at the Colt Firearms Factory. She was married in 1946 to the late John P. Waine and had five children. For many years Nellie was an avid bowler and later took up golf which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was also a devoted sports fan, and especially liked basketball and football. Nellie is survived by her five children, Kathleen Waine of VT, Janis Vannais, and her husband Jeffrey of MA, Joel P. Waine, and his wife Janis of South Windsor, Christopher J. Waine, and his wife Doreen of Manchester, and Jonathan B. Waine of Vernon, and her four grandchildren, Justin, Jared, Joshua, and Amanda. Nellie and her children would like to extend warmest thanks to her caregiver Shirley Acquah who provided wonderful care and companionship and became a loved member of the family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:00am in Saint Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Road, South Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Saint Augustine Cemetery, South Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to SPCA of CT, 359 Spring Hill Road, Monroe, CT 06468.
