Peter James Tomany, 67, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Hartford Hospital on Friday September 11, 2015. A loving and devoted husband and father to his beloved wife Shirley Arnold Tomany and daughter Kimberly Ann Tomany (who he called sweetie). Born August 26, 1948 in Hartford, son of the late Henry Owen and Helen (Sobol) Tomany, he grew up in Glastonbury where he spent the majority of his life until moving to East Hartford in 1998. He graduated from Glastonbury High School. He enlisted in the army and was a very proud Vietnam Veteran. He was a very hard working man and would help anyone who needed help. He had numerous jobs from landscaping, C&D Construction Co. and his last was at Dexter Corp. in Rocky Hill. One of the things he enjoyed most was his garden he planted every year and shared all of it with family and neighbors, as his father always did. He loved sports especially the New York Yankees and New York Giants. He enjoyed camping and fishing, but most of all his whole family and friends. He was a very caring man and he loved life and he was so loved. Besides his wife and daughter he leaves behind his favorite sister who he loved so much Sharon Tomany Marone and her husband Ronald of Glastonbury, 2 brothers Michael Tomany of Thompson, Daniel Tomany and his wife Karen of Glastonbury, his sisters-in-law Florence Dihlman of Glastonbury and Mildred Petrello of East Hartford. He also leaves his nieces and nephews, Jennifer Marone, Karrie Tomany, Aaron Tomany and his wife Carrie, James Tomany and his wife Chaula, his grand nieces and nephews, Josh Tomany, Benjamin Tomany, Hanna Tomany and Sophia Tomany. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Muggy Tomany. The family would like to express their love to the Jacques family (Mill St. gang), Jeanne Tomany and William Cariseo of West Hartford for being such a good friend to Peter. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Thomas Feldman for taking such good care of Peter for 14 years and the staff at Hartford Hospital for the excellent care they provided over the years, as well as the compassionate caring staff on CB2 who helped Peter pass with peace and dignity.
