Obituary of Irene Shoup
Irene Park Shoup, 93 of South Glastonbury, CT died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at home with family by her side. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, Edgar C. Shoup. Born March 28, 1918 in Utica, New York she moved to CT in 1942 and was a resident of Glastonbury for 58 years. Irene graduated from New Hartford High School, New Hartford, NY and from the Excelsior School of Business, Utica, NY as an executive secretary. In her younger years, Irene did volunteer work for the Red Cross, was a Brownie leader and taught Sunday school at the First Church of Christ, Congregational where she was a member for 57 years. She enjoyed reading, ballroom dancing, and playing setback at the Glastonbury Community Center. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Janice and Ron Beller of Parker, CO and Bonnie and Roger Olson of South Glastonbury; five grandchildren and their spouses, David and Laura Beller, James and Eloisa Beller, Stephen and Marisa Beller, Heather and Dan Berti, Heidi Olson; and seven great grandchildren. A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, August 6, at 10am in the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 2183 Main St., Glastonbury with the Rev. David Taylor officiating. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Fund, First Church of Christ, Congregational, 2183 Main St., Glastonbury, CT 06033.
