I 'knew' Aunt Skip and heard about her incredible adventures with her niece Judith LaVorgna, my dear friend. Judy had chapters of stories about her beloved Aunt Skip and treasured every moment with her. Judy and I used to joke about setting Aunt Skip up with my dear uncle who died two years ago, and who we called simply, 'Unc'. What a pair they would have made. Now we can know they can meet and we will only guess about the things they might explore.
I have a 'Judy' file on my computer with the writings of stories about Skip and her life with Judy, who adored her and misses her so much. Sweet Trac, the Goldendoodle was Skip's buddy and was with her to the end.
Someday Trac will go to the Rainbow Bridge where Aunt Skip will be waiting for him and perhaps Unc will be there too. I'm sad I never got to meet Aunt Skip in person but am grateful I got to know her through Judy's stories.
Rest well Aunt Skip and I'll be thinking of you at cocktail hour.
Love, Katie-Girl

My Mom, her sister Margaret, told me that there was a huge cocktail party at Pleasant Street for Ethel and Milt when they became engaged. Dancing in the dining room with the table removed, dancing on the big front porch, a bar in the pantry, food on the kitchen table, everyone happy, happy.
At some point Milt proposed a toast to Ethel. He said, "When I marry you I am going to buy a huge yacht and we are going to sail around the world forever, and you will be my Skipper!" From that point forward many people came to call her Skip for short...and the name simply stuck among family and friends for the rest of her life.

We are flooded with such wonderful fond memories of Aunt Skip. Every Sunday with the Heley clan at Pleasant St..watching her dance with glee...her devotion to Milty, Steve and his family ...her optimistic outlook on life...the prom and bridesmaid dresses she helped sew. She was fun and funny. We are comforted knowing that her last years were filled with incomparable love and unselfish caring. May she rest in peace with her parents and siblings. There is a dining room table in heaven for all of them now. Connie, Bill and Jessica Duane

Skippy, I miss you so much. Our home, always full of sound and laughter is still. Today I went to the pool at our 'cocktail hour', and I was alone. But then, I wasn't, I called your name and you were there...as you have always been, as you will always be...Dearest gurl I can hardly place one foot in front of another, if you can see us, you can see so many flowers sent in the happy memory of knowing you...knowing "us" as we were for so long. Your service dog, Trac, sits at your door waiting for you, he is bereft in his Goldendoodle heart. He wants once more to warm your feet. Skip, you were a joy, a glory, my sunshine. I was so happy to have you in my life. Lucky me, lucky you. But when I whisper your name, I know you are ever near; for that, I will be grateful for the rest of my life. Thank you for loving me, laughing with me, living with me. I will honor your memory forever. Judy, and Trac
