Obituary of Singhild Smith

Singhild ("Betty") (Lofstrom) Smith, 90, of Glastonbury, passed away on October 28th with her son by her side. Betty was born in Hartford on August 29, 1924. She was predeceased by her husband Vincent, her sisters Evelyn, Emma, Eleanor, Eva, and Elsie, and her brother Bill. She was also predeceased by her beloved daughter-in-law Gloria. She is survived by her son Michael, and her beloved grandchildren William and Sydney who affectionately called her "Bet-Bet". She is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews from the Wertschings, the Lofstroms, the Vitarellis, the Kancas, the Pioluneks, the Bis' and the Wijangcos. She worked for many years at Aetna. Betty found pure joy in spending time with her two hearts, William and Sydney. Whether checking their homework, playing with them, buying them whatever they asked for, reading to them, waking up to have breakfast with them or just watching TV with them, they were her reason for getting out of bed every day. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Glastonbury Health Care Center for taking such great care of Betty. Calling hours will be Saturday November 1st at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, from 9:30 to 11:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12noon on Saturday, November 1st in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main Street, Glastonbury, followed by Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
