Obituary of Mark Solazzo

Mark S. Solazzo, of South Glastonbury, loving husband of Dr. Janice Hartnett Solazzo and father of Erika, passed away Saturday morning after a brief illness. Mark was born in Commack, New York, graduated Norwalk High School, attended Central Connecticut State University and was working towards his MBA in Social Media Marketing. Mark enjoyed a highly successful career in sales and sales management, with several technology software companies over the last 17 years, most recently with Salesforce.com. While he received numerous prestigious sales awards for his accomplishments in these areas, his real presence in life was exemplified and shared with friends and family. Mark found great serenity and peace by the ocean and in the simplicity of nature. He was a man of many talents and interests, enjoying cooking, fine dining, gardening, music and computer technology. Together with his wife Janice, Mark loved traveling and mostly spending time with friends and family. Mark was predeceased by his father, Anthony Sr. and his brother, Richard. In addition to his wife and daughter Mark is survived by his mother Marion, his brother Anthony Jr. and sister-in-law Theresa, his father-in-law Jack Hartnett, his mother-in-law Joan Kendzior, his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Nancy and Charles Sutton and John Hartnett, and five nieces and nephews including Nicholas, Dena and Angela Solazzo and Michael and Avery Sutton. Visiting hours will be held Friday September 12th from 4-8pm at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. A mass will be celebrated, Saturday, September 13th at 11am in St. Augustine's Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury. Mark's family extends their gratitude to all the physicians, nurses and staff at Hartford Hospital who provided compassionate care during his illness. In lieu of flowers, Mark had requested that donations be made to the Chrysalis Center in Hartford Connecticut, a non-profit organization that provides social services, job training and affordable housing to veterans and people who struggle with mental illness, poverty and substance.
