Obituary of Katherine Markin

Katherine I. (Furman) Markin, 88, of Glastonbury, wife of the late Walter A. Markin, died Monday July 14, 2014 at Hartford Hospital. Born December 20, 1925 in Meriden, daughter of the late Stanley and Stephanie (Ronski) Furman she had lived in Glastonbury for the past 54 years. She was a member of St. Paul Church, the League of the Sacred Heart, the Aetna Women's Club and was involved in town politics and worked very hard to see the Community Center become a reality. Katherine loved current events, was an avid reader and had an amazing singing voice. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Markin and her husband Benjamin Cray of West Kingston, RI, Joan Markin of Glastonbury, a sister Phyllis Freschi and her husband Tom of Wilmington, DE, a sister-in-law Ardyce Furman of Durham, two grandchildren Haley Geysen and Colleen Cray, a niece and three nephews, Steven and Michael Freschi and Caroline and Richard Furman. She was predeceased by a brother Raymond Furman. The family would like to thank the staff at Salmon Brook Nursing Home, Hartford Hospital and Hospice for the care and compassion shown their mother.
