Obituary of Young Hwang

Young Hwang, 76, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Ok B. (Lee) Hwang, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (May 14, 2014) with his wife by his side. Born in Korea on November 29, 1937, he was the son of the late Duk Jin and Sook Ja Hwang. Emigrating to the US in 1965, he embarked on an adventure that would eventually lead him to open Shogun, one of the first Japanese/Sushi restaurants in CT in the 1980's. A very proud man with an infectious smile, he will be dearly missed by his daughters Helen Taylor of Glastonbury and Juliet (Bryan) Feery of Marlborough, and his son, Daniel (Cedar) Hwang of Middletown, RI; seven adored grandchildren, within each of whom his traits live on: Olivia with his perseverance, Trent with his athleticism, Bryan with his thoughtfulness, Ethan with his stoicism, Nicholas with his beautiful smile, Tyler with his playfulness and Chloe with his beautiful voice; his three sisters and a brother, as well as extended family, including nieces and nephews, locally and afar; and his dear friends who he loved to golf and fish with. His zest for life and his love for his family were beyond measure. Funeral services will be Monday (May 19) at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 56 Hartford Ave., Wethersfield, with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury, immediately thereafter. Friends and relatives may call on Sunday (May 18), from 5-8 p.m., at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury.
