The world has dimmed with the loss of Selena, my cousin. She was devoted to her family and I have wonderful memories of our most recent conversations at more recent family events. Her kindness, gentleness and her specialness will never be forgotten.

My family and I are so sorry for your loss. I met Selena last month at Caryn's house. We had a wonderful time chatting about old memories and families. She was a devoted mother and daughter and very proud of her sons.

She was more than just a cousin, our mothers were sisters and that bond extended to how I felt about Selena, the closest person I had to a sister. Allowing me to call upon her when I needed her or just shoot the breeze. We shared Buffalo together, she at State College and me across town at UB. She was always the gracious host inviting the whole family to wonderful backyard gatherings. It was just three weeks ago we got together at my home in NYC with our cousin Ellen, and enjoyed a brunch of mimosas, catching up and looking over the family tree. We were looking forward to getting together again in the spring and getting closer again. She was loved and will be missed.

My deepest condolence on the death of Selena. I met her when she would come to SummerWood to see Saul and I have never met a more devoted daughter. We had so many wonderful conversations and throughout them all, it was so apparent that what was most important to her was her family. God bless you all during this difficult time. You will all remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Selena was my sister thru my husband,Ivan. It is thru my husband that I new and shared with Selena.Next to Granma Rose(her mother)I have known Selena as the most kind,forgiving,non-judgemental and decent human being I have ever known. She accepted me,and all she touched with her life , unconditionally...warts and all.All she did was give and give love to all...always.Sort of reminds me of the book The Giving Tree...We'll never get over losing you.Sandra Padin Halfond

Growing up, I had two sets of cousins...those on Mom's side and those on Dad's side. Being that I am the oldest on both sides, I will admit I didn't set the greatest of examples for my younger cousins. However, I always looked forward to holidays with my cousins who were closest in age to me...David and Michael among them. Seeing them always meant also seeing Aunt Selena, and that also meant I was sure to get a few Angels' Wings cookies! It figures that a true angel would always provide the tastiest Angels' Wings.
No matter how turbulent and volatile my personal life was, I never once saw judgment or disgust in Aunt Selena's eyes. There was only kindness and acceptance. She never once, in all my 40 years missed sending me a birthday card, or missed marking any milestone with a present or greeting. It is for all those little gestures of kindness and love that I will miss her most. Especially when my birthday or anniversary rolls around next year.
With love...fondly,
Mark
