Obituary of Robert Houghton
Robert E. Houghton, 81, of Glastonbury, husband of the late Elizabeth (Ciechowski) Houghton, died Sunday January 19, 2014 at Salmon Brook Nursing Home. Born January 22, 1932 in Gardner, MA, son of the late Calvin E. and Gladyce (Phelps) Houghton, he had lived in Glastonbury since 1962. He was a Technical Writer at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for over 35 years retiring in 1991. Bob loved trains and railroads. Bob was president and vice president of the Glastonbury Square Dance Club and worked with the Boy Scouts Troop #34 in Glastonbury. He had received his eight gallon pin from the American Red Cross. Bob served in the US Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Laura and Bruce Larsen of Glastonbury, a son Calvin E. Houghton of Glastonbury and fiancé Kimberly DelGobbo, his friend and traveling companion Dannie O'Brien of Glastonbury, a brother Donald Houghton of Wayland, MA and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by another brother, Roger A. Houghton. A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday Jan. 25 at 11:30am in the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury.
