Obituary of Anthony Lawrence

Anthony D. Lawrence, Sr., 74, of East Hartford, beloved husband of Kathleen (Stanford) Lawrence, died Monday December 30, 2013. Born December 30, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY he had lived in East Hartford since 1967. He was vice president of sales for the United Fruit Co. covering New York, New Jersey and Maryland. He was a former owner of Eastern Hardware and All Pro Estate Cleaning in East Hartford. Tony was an athlete in high school and college graduating from Hartford Public High School in 1959 and Curry College in Milton, MA. He was an avid Red Sox and UCONN fan and enjoyed going to his grandchildren's baseball, football and basketball games. He was a former coach with the East Hartford Little League. Tony looked forward to his weekly poker game with his friends. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons and their wives: Anthony, Jr. and Carrie Lawrence of Colchester, Daniel and Holly Lawrence of Coventry, Robert and Michelle Lawrence of East Hartford, seven grandchildren Joseph, Ashley, Jacqueline, Daniel, Zachary, Ryan and Jenna Lawrence. He also leaves a sister-in-law Anne Stanford of East Hampton, a nephew Robert Stanford of East Hampton, and two nieces Katherine Martie of East Haddam and Lori Brooks of Hebron and several cousins. Funeral service will be held Saturday Jan. 4 at 11am in the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday morning from 9:30 until 11am.
