Obituary of Dorothy Welch

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Ann (Ludlam, Cronin) Welch on Tuesday October 8, 2013. Dorothy was born on January 23, 1921 in Hartford to the late Earl and Florence Ludlam. Graduating from Ellisworth School, class of 1939 she played softball for the Burnham and Brady Candy Company as a pitcher. Dorothy resided most of her life in Hartford, East Hartford and Glastonbury. Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Andrew (Bunny) Welch and had a long career in retail, working at G. Fox, Luettgens Limited and Sage Allen. She leaves four sons and their spouses; Michael and Tammy Welch of Glastonbury, Scott and Eileen Cronin of Darien, Timothy and Pat Cronin of Wallingford and Peter and Roberta Welch of St. Augustine, FL, her brother Earl Ludlam and his wife Clair of Unionville, fourteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew. Besides her husband she was predeceased by a son Robert Cronin and a daughter Leila Sylvester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday Oct. 12 at 10am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Friday Oct. 11 from 4-7pm.
