Obituary of Kathy Lukow
Kathy (Rowell) Lukow, 72, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on November 5, 2024. Born on January 13, 1952, in Charleston, SC, Kathy was raised in her hometown where she met her beloved husband, Terry. They fell in love on their first date and were married six months later on January 15, 1971.
From Charleston, they moved to Columbia, SC, where they started their family and then settled in Hebron, CT, which they have called home for many years. Kathy’s life was centered around raising her two girls, which brought her so much joy, and being a homemaker. She loved their annual family vacations to Myrtle Beach and enjoyed many trips to Charleston to visit family and friends. Kathy found great pleasure in caring for all her grandchildren, creating many memories of adventure and laughter for them. Ask anyone in the neighborhood and they will say her yard is always buzzing with the grandkids.
Kathy's generosity and kindness extended into the community where she coached the RHAM cheerleading team, led her daughters’ Girl Scout troop, and ran the Sunday School program at Gilead Congregational Church for many years. Her home was always open to her daughters’ friends where many found she was a second Mom to them. You would always find Kathy in her gardens among her colorful flowers creating beautiful landscapes. Other than her love for gardening, Kathy enjoyed antiquing. She was always searching for that one piece of blue and white china she hadn’t found yet.
Holidays were always special to her, but Christmas held a unique place in her heart. She took great joy in making the season magical for everyone, transforming her front yard into a winter wonderland light display and adorning every room in her home with Christmas decor for all to enjoy. She even donated the red mailbox in the center of town so children could mail letters to Santa. Kathy’s love for Christmas was evident in every detail, and she wanted to share that joy with others.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Terry Lukow; her daughters, Kate (Ryan) Price and Jennifer (Eric) Brancard; her son, Adam (Katie) Gower; her grandchildren, James, Patrick, Collins, Ashford and Adeline; and her brothers, David (Dean) Rowell, Jimmy (Kathy) Rowell, and Gene Rowell. Kathy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
