Obituary of Janet L. Neurath
Janet L. Neurath 68, of Woodstock died June 15, 2024 at home after a long struggle with cancer. Janet was born to Leona and Raymond Real Sr. in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 11, 1955. She was the loving wife of Forest T. (Smokey) Neurath for 47 years.
Janet is survived by her two sons, Christopher and his wife Kristen with their four children: Christopher, Kailyn, Grayson, Nathaniel, and Scott and his wife Jamie and their two children Mason and Kasey. She leaves behind two sisters, Susan and husband Maynard Rioux of Tolland CT, Diane and husband Bill Rioux of Willington, CT and a brother, Raymond Real Jr. and his wife Lynda of Vernon, CT. She will also be missed by her life-long friend and sister-in-law, Tina Cournoyer and her brother-in-law, Jeff Neurath and his wife Beth, as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Raised in Glastonbury, CT, Janet attended The Hebron Avenue School and Glastonbury High School. After graduating from the Saint Francis School of Nursing, Janet spent 10 years at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford working as an R.N. and an additional 30 years as an I.C.U. nurse at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT.
Janet had a love for dogs and photography. She enjoyed long rides, kayaking, fishing, camping in the countryside and long days at the ocean. She cherished family and visits with grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
