Obituary of Edward Tomasiewicz

Edward John Tomasiewicz, 81, devoted husband of Jeane Tomasiewicz of South Glastonbury, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2013. The sixth of seven children of Anthony and Mary Tomasiewicz, he was born and raised in Southington, CT where he ran high school track & played the trumpet. He served in the Korean War as a Navy 1st Class Petty Officer. Graduated with a BA in Mechanical Engineering from Uconn. He started his career at Electric Boat/Groton and then transferred to Pratt & Whitney, where he worked until he retired after 32 years. Edward enjoyed the outdoors, where he gardened, bird watched and took care of his yard. He was also a very creative person who loved making stain glass and sharing the beauty he created with friends and family and he was a "gear head" and roller skated competitively, with his wife and son. We will all miss his wry sense of humor. He leaves behind the love of his life, Jeane, daughters Leah Tomasiewicz, Lynn Dickman and son, Bob Tomasiewicz and fiance Sharon Riccardi; grandchildren Kristal Dickman, Brandon Dickman and Victoria Edgar as well as a great grandchild, Trinity Jones; his brother John and wife Claire and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Mary; his brothers: Chester, Anthony, Frank and Michael and his sister Mary and his beloved dog Gizmo. There are no calling hours. A memorial mass will be held with military honors at 10:00 on September 14th at St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd, South Glastonbury 06073. A gathering of family and friends will be held at The Gallery Restaurant, 141 New London Tpke, Glastonbury 06033.
