Obituary of Jay T. Kappert

Jay Kappert, 51, of Melbourne, FL, formerly of Glastonbury, CT, son of Charles and Carol Kappert, passed away on June 8, 2024.  Jay was born in Manchester, CT on September 23, 1972. He spent the first four years of his life in Glastonbury CT, then re-located to Stuart, FL in 1976. He returned to Glastonbury in 1985. After graduating from Glastonbury High School in 1991, he attended Northeastern University in Boston, where he graduated with a BS degree in Criminal Justice. After graduation, Jay worked as a loss prevention detective for a number of companies including, Lowes, Sax Fifth Avenue, Walmart, and JC Penney.

Jay enjoyed watching sporting events and the Boston Red Sox was his favorite team. He enjoyed playing video games, listening to music and watching crime solving tv shows. Later in life Jay became a loyal dog owner and was inseparable from his first dog Cody and then Cooper. Jay had a very witty sense of humor and always made his Niece and Nephew laugh no matter what age.

Jay was preceded in death by his mother, Carol, and sister Julie. 

He is survived by his father, Chuck Kappert of Titusville FL, and brother Jeff Kappert of Jacksonville, FL.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Dunstan Church, 1345 Manchester Road, Glastonbury.  Burial will follow at Neipsic Cemetery, Glastonbury.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Care,1250 Grumman Pl, Titusville, FL 32780.
