Obituary of Ki Tai Pae

Ki-Tai Pae 87, formerly of Newington and Glastonbury, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2024 with family by his side. He was born in Korea on October 18, 1936 and moved to the United States to obtain his doctoral degree. Ki-Tai was a lifelong scholar and educator. He received his PhD from the University of Connecticut, completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale, and was proficient in six languages. For almost 40 years he was a Professor of Economics at Central Connecticut State University and was Chairperson of the department for many years. He was always willing to share his wisdom and his smile.

Ki-Tai was predeceased by his wife, Susan Sook-Hee, in 2015. They were married for 52 years and shared a love for the outdoors, especially hiking the numerous trails of the White Mountains and visiting national parks. Ki-Tai is survived by his son, Robert Pae MD, and his wife Connie, of New York; his daughter, Kathy Pae MD and her husband, Barrett Wells, of Glastonbury; and three beloved grandsons: Jonathan and Brian Pae and Kory Wells.
