Obituary of Orinda Taylor
Orinda (Lewis) Taylor, 54, of East Hartford passed into eternal rest on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at home, comforted by the presence of her loving family. "Rindi" was born on October 21, 1958 in Waterbury, to Althea S. and Harold C. Lewis (deceased). She grew up in Naugatuck, where she participated in Girl Scouts, synchronized swimming, Junior Red Cross, and the National Honor Society. In 1976, Rindi graduated salutatorian of her class at Naugatuck High School. She went on to the University of Connecticut where she received a Bachelor of Arts, became a sister of Kappa Kappa Gamma, and where she was blessed to meet her future husband, David, son of Frances M. and John D. Taylor (deceased) of Hockessin, DE. In her professional life, Rindi demonstrated enduring patience and unmatched expertise. She began her work in 1981 with Willimantic Trust Company and remained in the financial services industry throughout her career. Rindi worked for Open Solutions, Inc. of Glastonbury for more than a decade and, leaving in 2006, she formed her own banking software and consulting company, TAG Associates, LLC, with friend and colleague Mark Gadzik. Rindi was an avid reader, enjoyed travelling and, above all, cherished the time she spent sharing fun and laughter with her family. Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Rindi is survived by her husband David and their two children, Michael D. and Laura L. Taylor; her mother, Althea; her siblings, Madeline Adkins (Robert Daigneault), Harold J. Lewis (Susan), John R. Lewis (Barbara), Althea L. Boyd (Stan), Karen L. Thompson, and Charles A. Lewis (Nadine); adoring nieces and nephews, especially Erica Hutchinson, Sean Lewis, Matthew Lewis, Melissa Teator, Pamela Thompson, and their children; and extended family, including Meghan Doherty, William Brekka, and Rebecca Bartsch. Orinda's family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks for the tireless work of the doctors, nurses, and aides at St. Francis Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Masonicare Partners of East Hartford, as well as their many faithful friends at The Lutheran Church of St. Mark, whose efforts afforded her the courage to fight for her life among us and the peace to enter the next. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, 10 a.m. at The Lutheran Church of St. Mark, 75 Griswold Street, Glastonbury. Family and friends are also invited to calling hours, which will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calumet Lutheran Ministries, PO Box 236, West Ossipee, NH 03890. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.mulryanfh.com.
