Obituary of Joan P. Tomany
Joan Tomany, 85, of East Hartford, CT, passed away on February 13, 2024. Born on March 23, 1938, in Bath, Maine, Joan was the daughter of Antonio Pouliot and Adelia Pouliot (Rouillard). She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Tomany, as well as her grandson, Patrick Tomany, and her siblings Muriel Mehlhorn, Roland Pouliot, Ivan Pouliot, and Everett Pouliot.
Joan was a dedicated teacher who began her career on Deer Isle, ME, before moving to Fitch Middle School in Groton, CT, and ultimately finishing at Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, CT.
In addition to her career in education, Joan also worked as a security guard at Manchester Community Technical College for approximately 10 years.
Joan had a vibrant personality and a great sense of humor. She was known for her quick wit and infectious laugh, as well as her ability to bring joy to those around her. She had a love for golf and cards, often enjoying friendly games with her girlfriends. Joan was an avid reader and had a passion for bird watching.
Family was of utmost importance to Joan. She cherished her time spent with her extended family in Maine and formed lasting memories while vacationing across the country with her children. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, creating cherished moments together, and of course, she loved her granddog, Razzy.
Joan is survived by her son Sean Tomany, daughter-in-law Jodi Tomany, and grandson Matthew Tomany of Glastonbury, CT. She is also survived by her daughter Karen Searle, son-in-law Trevor Searle, and grandson Aiden Searle of Rehoboth, MA. Joan is further survived by her sisters Loretta Ezell of Huntsville, AL and Madeline Beaudreau of Bath, ME, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Joan will be dearly missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her love, laughter, and kind spirit will forever be remembered. May she rest in peace.
