Obituary of Harriet Emeline Cooke

Harriet Emeline (Forsberg) Cooke, 83, of Glastonbury passed away at home on December 24, 2023.

Born in Casper, Wyoming, Hatti was the daughter of the late Herman and Jeannette (Truax) Forsberg.  She was attending Casper College when she met and married Delmar Cooke, and devoted herself to helping him through college while starting their new family.  In the early 1960’s, with two children, they moved to Connecticut, where Hatti started her lifelong degree in raising and nurturing a large family.  They settled in Glastonbury where she felt they were far enough away from the “big city of Hartford”.

Along with her full-time job of raising five children, Hatti worked for Citizens Bank in Glastonbury for a number of years and then at Honeywell in Rocky Hill, where she worked in the Automation and Controls Solutions department.

Hatti was a long-time member of the Buckingham Congregational Church.  She loved singing in the choir and creating beautiful altar arrangements for the congregation to enjoy.  She participated in numerous church outreach programs to help her community, and spent many special times with the Silver Sweeties of Buckingham.

Hatti was a lover of nature, flowers and especially her beloved hummingbirds.  She took joy in spectating her grandchildren’s activities, was an avid quilter, and an infamous picture taker who created many special memories for her family. A genuinely caring, selfless and compassionate person who valued every moment spent with family and friends, Hatti’s contagious smile will never be forgotten.

Surviving are her sons Delmar Cooke of Colchester, Darren Cooke and his wife Pamela of Waterford, Greg Cooke and his wife Tammy Jo of Glastonbury, Glenn Cooke of East Hampton, her daughter Dana Haussmann and her husband Andreas of Glastonbury, her brother Douglas Forsberg of Wyoming.  She adored her eight grandchildren, D.G., Mikayla, Mackenzie, Gordon, Emeline, Mae, Julia and Sophia, and recently became a Great Grandmother to Cooper Dean.  Hatti also leaves behind her treasured friend Sue Chapman.  In addition to her parents, Harriet was predeceased by her brother Rockney Forsberg and her sister Brenda Beattie.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00 am at Buckingham Congregational Church, 16 Cricket Ln, Glastonbury. Burial will be in Buckingham Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. For online condolences, please visit www.mulryanfh.com.
