I met Mr. Lennox through my grandparents at United Paints. Like Mr. Lennox, my grandmother was from Marblehead and my father was born in Salem. Whenever we had a chance to visit, Phil would try to get us tickets to see the Whalers and then the Bruins. He and his wife were pillars of the community and will be deeply missed by all whom he touched over the years.

I knew Phil mostly from church where I sat near him and Velva. He was a very kind, caring person who loved to talk about paint and practical matters. I often saw him in his paint store in Glastonbury to get his advice and just to chat. He and I also shared a love of Sanibel Island where my husband, Roger, and I often vacationed in Florida. I will miss him and still enjoy seeing Velva at church.

Dear Velva, Carol and I are thinking of you at this difficult time. We have great memories getting to know you and Phil when we lived on Dean Drive and we always enjoyed our conversations at First Church, usually about the Giants, Sanibel or Santa Barbara.
Our thoughts are with you,
Tom and Carol Guerra

My wife, Janie and I were deeply saddened at the passing of a wonderful person and friend. Phil Lennox is not a man easily forgotten. We knew him for many decades and would look forward to seeing him at United Paint and Wallpaper. It was always "a trip" as we got caught up with Phil's quips/tips punctuated with a humor and delivered as only he could. We would exit the store chuckling with paint & brushes in hand. He kept us coming back, whether, or not to purchase. Phil, wife Velva and the crew at United Paint were a joy to behold and now that iconic business has passed, great memories remain. Phil was one of a kind and we are so fortunate to have had him in our lives.
