Obituary of Vernon T. Cooke

Vernon T. Cooke, known as Ted, passed away October 17, 2023 at Piedmont Regional Hospital in Athens, GA after a brave battle with cancer.  He leaves behind a brother, William Cooke, a sister, Barbara Cooke, a niece, Katherine Cooke, and numerous cousins.  He was predeceased by his parents, Vernon W. and Katherine C. Cooke, his sister-in-law, Beverly Cooke, his nephew, Christopher Cooke, as well as several cousins.

Vernon made his home in Hartwell, GA since 2010.  He was a regular attendant of the Abundant Life Baptist Church.   Before that he lived in the Northeast Kingdom of VT for many years.  He had traveled extensively; living in Guatemala for several winters and visited Mexico, Central America, and Europe.

Ted was born January 30, 1946, and grew up in Glastonbury, CT and graduated from GHS in 1964 and received a BS in electrical engineering from UConn in 1969.  He liked hiking in the woods and being in nature.  Vernon especially enjoyed swimming and often paddle boarded in areas close to his home and in lakes he explored.   He very much looked forward to the family reunions at the home of his cousins Sarah and Rob Caless on Lake Mashapaug.

Funeral arrangements will be private at a later date.  He will be buried at Green Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.   Vernon will be very missed by his friends and family. For online condolences, please visit www.mulryanfh.com.
