I had the distinct privilege of having Rose as my Latin teacher for four years at Ellington High School. My older sister and younger brother also were taught by Rose. If people wondered why the best high school Latin program in the state was in a small rural high school, they only had to learn it was because of Rose Greenwald. She was one of those teachers that people recall when they are asked to name some of the great teachers they have had that made a difference in their life and education. She always let us be creative and add our own energy to the study of Latin, and you only had to attend one of her classes or one of our outstanding Latin Banquets to see that in Ellington High School, Latin was anything but a 'dead language'.
My sincere condolences on your loss. Magistra Greenwald was a great woman and teacher.

Stephanie, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. I remember meeting her for the first time when we became roommates in Willard Hall at Mary Washington College in 1986. She was always so sweet to me. I enjoyed visiting with her when I went to Glastonbury over the years to see you. I am keeping you, Don and the boys in my prayers and am sending big 》HUGS《 to you across the miles. Love you, girl!!

Kathleen & I are very saddened about Rose's passing. Thought about her often & wish our schedules allowed us to see each other through the years. I loved hearing Doña Rosa teach her classes & I would smile with pride.
Rose was a special lady as are her three children, spouses & grandchildren.
Bless you & hugs from afar!
