Obituary of Stewart E. Novick

Dr. Stewart E. Novick passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023 with his family and people who loved him by his side. He was 78 years old. He is survived by his brother Dennis. His wife Judith passed away in August 2021.Stewart received a PHD in Chemistry from Harvard University and went on to a post-Doctoral fellowship at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Stewart was a full Professor of Chemistry at Wesleyan University where he was a faculty member for almost 50 years. He was a man with a brilliant mind, a leader in the international scientific community, only recently retired. He was a man with multiple and diverse interests ranging from stamp and coin collecting to astronomy, music and the visual arts. He brought the same level of passion and discipline to all of these interests that he brought to his scientific work and excelled in everything he did. Beyond his many talents and professional and personal accomplishments, Stew was a most generous man, putting the needs of others before his own. He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends, and his colleagues around the world.
