Obituary of Heidi J. Wasylishyn

Heidi Wasylishyn, age 40, passed away on July 25, 2023 surrounded by loved ones following a long health battle.

Born June 6, 1983, in Hartford to William and Gail (Waite) Wasylishyn, Heidi is a graduate of Glastonbury High School (’01) and received a degree in Marketing from Salve Regina in Newport, Rhode Island. After college, she moved to Scottsdale, Arizona for a few years, where she established several lasting friendships. A caregiver at her core, she moved back to Glastonbury in 2010 to be closer to home during her mother’s fight with terminal cancer.

Heidi most recently held a sales position at a business in Glastonbury, but as a caregiver at heart, she found nannying and dog-sitting to be something she was naturally successful at over the years, even starting her own business “The Crate Escape.” Children and dogs were drawn to Heidi.

Heidi lit up the room with her smile and sense of humor. She was quick to share a funny video or meme just to make you laugh. She loved her family, friends, and neighbors deeply. A week didn’t go by where she wasn’t cooking meals to bring to someone, especially her dad. She liked being near the water and spent many summer weekends boating on the river with the Condons.

Survivors include her father William Wasylishyn of Glastonbury; sister Erica, brother-in-law Harper Hanway, and nephew Benson (4) of Florida; longtime boyfriend Matt Condon and his parents Susan and Tom Condon of Glastonbury; several aunts and uncles including Vicki Wasylishyn of Barkhamsted; her beloved cousins; and two especially close families, the Bagshaws and the Gabors, who loved her dearly like their own.

Heidi was predeceased by her mother, Gail Wasylishyn; her paternal grandparents Emma and William Wasylishyn of Lebanon; her maternal grandparents Margaret (Peggy) and Dean Waite; great aunt “Grandma Dottie” Dorothy MacLennan; an aunt Dawn Wasylishyn; an aunt Debra Wasylishyn; and her precious dog Keira.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 31 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM with a celebration of Heidi's life at 11:00 AM at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, in Glastonbury. Burial in Lebanon will be directly following at 174 Waterman Road. After, join the family for a reception at Blackledge Country Club at 180 West Street in Hebron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society at 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT 06111. To share a memory please visit www.mulryanfh.com
