Obituary of Donna Corcoran
Donna Lee Corcoran, 53, of South Glastonbury passed away on July 3rd, 2013, having lived gracefully and courageously with recurrent brain cancer for 20 years. She passed surrounded by her devoted husband and her loving family. Her final year having been truly enriched by countless acts of kindness and the unwavering support of her many dear friends. Donna was the beloved wife of Michael P. Corcoran for 15 years. She was born in Manchester on March 31, 1960 and grew up in Coventry. She graduated in 1978 from Coventry High School and continued her education at Manchester Community College. Donna worked as a loan administrator in the banking industry at People's Bank, TD Bank, and most recently for Textron Financial. She made her permanent home in South Glastonbury with her husband Michael and their two beloved dogs Sophie & Mabel. Donna found true joy in sharing her time and talents with others, as an extension of her professional life, with local charities and most especially with her friends and family. She was a prolific crocheter and quilter, producing baby blankets for a seeming generation of new arrivals as well as gorgeous full-size, hand-sewn quilts. She was a Master Gardener and enjoyed sharing her knowledge and cut flowers from her gardens. She was an outstanding cook and baker, never arriving empty handed. Her cinnamon scones were the stuff of legend.
Most importantly, Donna was fully engaged in the lives of her family and friends, never missing an event, big or small. She was a friend in the very truest sense of the word, loving you enough to tell you the truth and always being there in times of need.
In addition to her husband, Donna leaves behind her parents Carol & Carl Brolin of Coventry, brother James (Lisa) Murzyn, sister Tracyann Mercer of Jensen Beach , FL and nephews Jordon Murzyn of Willimantic and Jesse Mercer of Coventry, brother Chris (Mary) Brolin of Boxborough, MA, nieces Ali & Siena , brother Kevin (Dawn) Brolin of Windham, nieces Emily & Kayla, sister Jennifer (Mark) Duchesne of Windham, nephews Benjamin & Matthew, her beloved Uncle Bob & Joyce Bridgeman, many cousins and wonderful friends. Donna also leaves sisters-in-law Jill (Marc) Milstein of Cheshire and Amy (Scott) Schroder of Avon, nieces Molly & Hannah Milstein and nephews Ethan, Will & Benjamin Schroder.
She is predeceased by her loving grandparents Selma & Robert Bridgeman and Irene Murzyn as well as her mother-in-law Ann Pfeiffer Howe.
