Obituary of Milan Macko
Milan Macko, 82, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Marjorie Carleton Macko for 53 years, died Friday July 5, 2013 at his summer home in Kennebunk Beach, Maine. He was born October 14, 1930 in Kosice, Slovakia, son of the late Jan and Darina Macko. He came to the United States April 19th, 1950 and lived in Glastonbury for the past 36 years. He worked at Roser's Tannery in Glastonbury before becoming Operations Manager at Hartford National Bank and retiring from Shawmut Bank. During his working career he also served as president of the East Hartford Jaycees. In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing tennis with his family and going on biking trips. He also enjoyed traveling, cooking for family and friends, photography, and watching Jeopardy. He was a fan of professional tennis, Uconn women's basketball and the Red Sox. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was the chronicler for the family. His message was to enjoy the moment. He is survived by his wife and 2 sons and daughters-in-law; Gregory C. and Maribeth Macko and Frederick M. and Michelle Macko, all of West Hartford, as well as five grandchildren; Alexandra, Gregory Jr., Tyler, Chloe and Noah Macko. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday July 11 at 10am in St. Dunstan Church, 1345 Manchester Rd., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Wednesday July 10 from 4-6pm.
