Obituary of Erik Oechsli
Erik Matthew Oechsli, 22, of Glastonbury, beloved son of Paul and Susan (Donaghy) Oechsli, died unexpectedly Friday (May, 17, 2013). Born December 9, 1990 in Hartford, CT he grew up and lived in Glastonbury for 20 years, while spending the past 2 years in Costa Mesa, CA. Erik graduated from Glastonbury High School in 2008. He attended Eastern CT State University and Centaur University, where he pursued a career in social work. Erik played football and baseball in high school and loved playing pickup basketball, weightlifting and disc golf. Erik loved all sports and was a passionate fan of the New York Jets and Mets. He was passionate about dogs, all forms of music, (especially Phish), camping and friends and family. Erik had an infectious personality and left behind many friends who will sorely miss him. He was a loving son and brother. Besides his loving parents, he is survived by his younger twin brothers, Matthew and Christopher, who admired him greatly, his girlfriend Marissa Soto and his beloved dog, Molly, of Costa Mesa, CA, his maternal grandmother Josephine Donaghy of Trumbull, CT and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his two grandfathers, Michael Donaghy and Kelly Oechsli, as well as his grandmother, Helen Oechsli. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday (May 24, 2013) at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Church, Glastonbury. Private burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, Thursday (May 23, 2013) from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111.
