Obituary of Joanne Murray

Joanne (Ryan) Murray, 75, of Glastonbury, wife of the late Edward Murray, died Saturday March 2, 2013 at Hartford Hospital. Born February 12, 1938 in Baltimore, MD, daughter of the late John and Esther (Meyer) Ryan , she had lived in Glastonbury since 1989. Joanne was a graduate of Brown University and had owned and operated the Enfield Gardens florist shop from 1965 until 1987. After that she began a second life with her second husband Edward Murray, who left us all too soon, predeceasing her in 1999. She was a member of the Prayer Shawl and Crocheters at First Church of Christ. The family would like to thank the Duxbury and Barrington neighborhoods for the exceptional warmth and kindness shown to their mother through the years. Joanne is survived by her son Erik Paulsen of Hamden, her daughter Sharon Smith of Scottsdale, AZ, her step daughters Linda Kolb of Plano, TX, Karen Murray of East Hartford, Jean Stewart of Moon Township, PA, nine grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister Shirley Taylor and a brother Tim Ryan. A memorial service will be celebrated on April 13 at 1:30 PM in the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 2183 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
