Dear Mrs. Romeo, Traci, and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Lou was more than a boss to me when I worked at West Side market in the 80's. He treated me like family and I have many fond memories of him.
My deepest sympathy,

Brenda, Traci & Chris,
Our deepest condolences on the loss of Lou. We were so shocked to hear of his passing. I've known Lou for over 45 years and and it was a pleasure to call him a friend. I think back on all the wonderful conversations we had and i must say I never knew a man that was so honest, considerate and willing to go out of his way to make sure he said hello when I was in the market. I think back of when I would run into him at the airport, plane or in Florida. Always seemed like we would end up at the same places, mostly Too jays Delicatessen in Jupiter with Brenda as well as other fine eateries. Most vivid memory was being at the beach in Jupiter and this man calling my name and asking when I got to FL and how long was I staying. I spoke with this man for a while before I asked what his name was and ho looked at me and said "It's me Lou". We had a long laugh as i was never used to seeing him with shorts, a baseball cap and a four day beard. I was so used to seeing him dressed so meticulously in the store. We laughed at that for years! You will be missed my friend but never forgotten. RIP.

He left a grand legacy in the town of Rocky Hill. I moved here in 1986 and went to Westside to shop. He was always kind and helpful. He made me feel Rocky Hill was home and safe. I have always shopped at Westside since. Lou you made your family and the town of Rocky Hill so proud. We are honored to have known you. May you rest in Heavenly Peace.

I worked at Westside all throughout high school, college and grad school. For 16 years, I called this man my boss, but feeling truly lucky that I was also able to call Lou a friend. We laughed together, celebrated many milestones together and even cried together during some trying times. In short, I grew up at Westside Market. I spent just as much time with Lou and his family as I did my own. People were often shocked to find out that we were not related - that’s the paisano Italian culture. Why do I feel like the luckiest to have known this man? I was able to learn from him. I owe so much of my work ethic, compassion and empathy to him. Lou believed that everyone should work customer service in some fashion throughout their lives - no truer words have been spoken. Working in customer service makes you a better human being and a more well-rounded individual. I have taken this piece of wisdom with me throughout my life.
Lou is one of the ‘last of the Mohicans’ if you will, of doing business from the heart. No decision was made without taking into consideration everyone’s feelings and all potential outcomes. I have yet to know a more generous and kind man. People would call the store frequently looking for a donation of some sort and I don’t think I ever saw Lou turn an organization away. He would never turn away a familiar face, either. Like a true Italian exit, it would take Lou forever to get from his office to his car when he would leave each evening. The longest of these goodbyes would be on Christmas Eve - making sure to give a hug and a ‘Merry Christmas’ to everyone in his reach. This also speaks volumes to Lou’s amazing character.
My favorite memories with Lou were spent working on the various projects he ran raising money for Special Olympics and the Dream Ride - also benefiting Special Olympics, something that he and LR championed for. I also enjoyed Santa’s yearly visit, where I would serve as the picture-taking elf. Each year, Lou would be sure to take a picture with Santa, Brenda, LR, Helen, Connor and Shannon. Times like these, when he smiled so big, I’ll never forget them.
Because of Lou, I also believe in fate. He told me once of the story that he and Brenda’s license numbers were only one digit apart. Having not known each other way back when they began driving, how amazing was it that they ended up married all those years later? Funny enough, my boyfriend and I have phone numbers only one digit apart — fate, once more.
I am sending all my love and so many hugs to Brenda, Traci, Chris, Helen, Connor, Shannon and Kevin. Thank you for sharing Lou with me for all these years. I will hold each one of you in my prayers. May the joy you find in happy memories surround you and bring you peace. I find much comfort in knowing that LR was there to greet him with those animated conversations I remember so vividly; some of which are my favorite stories to date.
When someone lovely passes on, it is often said, ‘The World would be a better place if more people were like them’. Rest peacefully, Lou, as you are the very best of these lovely souls. The World is certainly less one of its brightest lights today. I will miss you, Lou. I already do.
Love always,
Courtney

On behalf of my mother, Carmela, and myself, we are so deeply saddened to hear about Lou for we were very much looking forward to seeing him. Fortunately, we were able to celebrate his 80th birthday together. I’ll never forget speaking to him on the phone from Hartford Hospital when my younger brother was ill, he said, “Franky, whatever you need, just let me know.” He was there for us and for so many others that will miss him dearly.

Brenda , Tracy and family,
I will miss Lou to my dying day, especially our talks on family, friends, business and books. He was such a giving man who helped so many without want of notice. My thoughts are blocked by tears. I feel so sad about loosing him and yet the joy of knowing he is with LR, whom he missed so very much.
"Mi dispiace " Lou. I'm so sorry you are gone! My love and prayers to Brenda and family.

Like Bob, my grief over losing Lou is inconsolable. Beautiful and happy memories spent in Florida, Cape Cod and Italy with our "Bozzuto Family" bring to mind moments of shared happiness with Brenda and Lou. But it's the everyday hook-ups both Bob and I will miss. My heart is broken for Brenda and her wonderful family.
To my husband Bob, I am so very sorry for the loss of your best friend and "brother".
Peace to your hearts.

Dear Mrs. Romeo and Family,
We were so sad to hear about Lou’s passing. He was truly a gentlemen and well respected in the industry. I remember him when I was a very young man going as far back as the Allied Grocer’s days. He was a hardworking, smart man with vision. May he Rest In Peace. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
Our deepest sympathy,
Danny, Rosanna D’Aprile and family and Everyone at D&D Market
