Obituary of Richard B. Bowman

Richard (Dick) B. Bowman, 70, of Glastonbury, died Friday January 18, 2013 at home. Born May 21, 1942 in Canton, Ohio, son of the late Robert R. and Lyle M. (Birch) Bowman, he was a longtime resident of Glastonbury. Dick graduated from Syracuse University where he was captain of the football team. He played professional football and was a first round draft pick of the St. Louis Cardinals in 1964. After his football career Dick enjoyed working in the trucking, rigging and crane industry, spending the last 15 years with Marino Crane out of Middletown. Dick thoroughly knew how to enjoy and appreciate life. Dick is survived by his three children; Christopher B. Bowman and his fiancée Traci Miller of FL, Richard C. Bowman and his wife Carrie of Glastonbury, Kara B. Wade and her husband Phil of FL, a brother Robert Bowman and his wife Judy of VA, 2 sisters Robin Nevins and her husband Jon of AL, Bonnie Nolan and her husband Tom of CA and 6 grandchildren; Madison, Richie and Danny Bowman, Megan and Katie Wade, Ben Miller, and will be missed by countless close friends. Funeral service will be Wednesday Jan 23 at 10am at the Congregational Church of South Glastonbury (corner of Main and High Sts). Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Tuesday Jan 22 from 5-8pm.
