Sandy,
I was saddened to learn of your father's passing. He was such a nice man and I know he loved you so. He always talked about how proud he was of you and your your daughters.
Our prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

I read about your father, Sandra, David and Michael, and remember your family fondly. I was your baby sitter, and Sandy's gymnastics teacher, where she was one of the gym super stars. I have some cute pictures from the gym, if Sandy wants to email me, then I'll send them on. I was sorry to see the obituary in the Citizen. Take care, Janet

I feel like the luckiest person on earth to have had Al as my father. He was the kindest man with the biggest heart who would literally give anyone in need the shirt off his back. He was not only my dad but also a close friend. He gave me unconditional love and support without judgement no matter what ridiculous ideas I came up with. He was more like a father figure to my two daughters than a grandfather; he taught them the world is a wonderful place and gave them the greatest gift of his time and insight on how to become the responsible mature women they are. He was so proud of his granddaughters Samantha and Alyssa. Not once did he ever lose his patience or temper with anyone. He lived every day to the fullest, never wasting one minute on anything or anyone negative. He went out of his way to help those in need without being asked. At the age of 87 he was still snow plowing his 400 ft. driveway as well as plowing out his neighbors with his famous red jeep he lovingly named the “Red Rider”. He was fiercely independent and still drove his beloved truck up to his summer home in Maine right up until last summer. I will forever miss our delicious Sunday dinners, his beautiful smile and his contagious laughter. Together we made a lifetime of precious memories at his lakeside home in Maine that my daughters and I will never forget. Mousam Lake was his happy place but Al’s true happiness was always a state of mind, he was happy wherever he was. I had 35 Maine summers with him filled many amazing memories from swimming, boating, and lazy afternoons quietly floating on our rafts. Yes, I will miss him deeply but he gave me countless memories that will live on and heal my broken heart. My dad died as he lived in a totally happy and peaceful state of mind. There was no room for any pain or suffering, just absolute peace and happiness. He truly had a beautiful life; I take comfort in knowing he is with his true love, my mother Millie. Rest in Peace dad…I love you. Sandy
