Obituary of Esther Buffington

Esther Buffington, 75, of South Windsor, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. Born in Palmer, MA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Kate (Clark) Buffington. Esther spent her youth in Mayberry Village where she started forging long lasting friendships, a theme that followed her throughout her life. She is a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1962. She raised her two daughters in Colchester where she made a home for over twenty years, then moved to Glastonbury where she resided for her next twenty years before moving to South Windsor. Esther made a career serving as a Clerk in the Glastonbury Probate Court, retiring in 2008. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church in South Windsor. Her greatest joy was being "Grandma Buff" to her six beloved grandchildren. Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law; Debra Chamberlain Lick and Derek Lick of Sutton, NH, Diane Chamberlain and Benjamin Rubin of Leverett, MA, and her grandchildren; Samuel, Thomas, Anna and Sophia Lick, Ellis and Oliver Rubin, her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Debbie Buffington of Ivoryton and her sister-in-law Patricia Buffington of Ellington. Esther was predeceased by her brother, Clark Buffington. She also leaves many extended family members and countless friends who she considered family. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held to celebrate her life on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 12:00 pm at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury.
