Obituary of Edward Peter Sutkowski

Edward Peter Sutkowski passed away on February 7, 2020. Born on July 22, 1926, he was the son of Anna Bryg Sutkowski and Peter Sutkowski formerly of Shelton, CT. He was the older brother of Jean Sutkowski of San Jose, CA and Richard Sutkowski, deceased. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Maznicki Sutkowski, of Farmington, CT. He is also survived by his son, Bruce Sutkowski, and his wife, Gail Wozenski, of South Glastonbury, CT and his daughter, Beth Mortimer, and her husband, Tom Mortimer, of Bolton, CT and his beloved grandchildren, Lauren Sutkowski, Joseph Sutkowski, and Jason Sutkowski. Ed also leaves his nephew, Rod Sutkowski, and his two nieces, Renee Krugel and Carol Rae. After graduating Shelton High School, he joined the Navy during World II. He attended classes at Trinity College in Hartford, CT where he met his future wife, Phyllis. Ed and Phyllis were married for 70 years. Ed spent his working years as a Manufacturing Manager, first at the Underwood and later at Redington Counters, both located in CT. In retirement, Grampy Ed enjoyed spending time with the grandkids babysitting and watching every sport they played. He also loved vacationing in Stowe, VT where he and Phyllis, together with their friends and family, could enjoy the spectacular scenery and restaurants. Grampy also enjoyed golfing, canoeing, and reading history books. His legacy is simply that he was the most humble, kind and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and friend you could ever meet. Services will be private. Contributions may be made to the CT Children’s Hospital in his name.
