Obituary of Donald Ira Kilgore

Donald Ira Kilgore, 86, of Jensen Beach, FL formerly of Glastonbury, CT, husband of the late Jean (Durand) Kilgore, passed away peacefully on October 28th surrounded by his family.  He was born in W. Sebois, ME on June 30, 1933 and moved to CT in 1947 residing in several Connecticut towns before settling in Glastonbury in 1968.  He retired in 1989 living as snowbirds in FL and Patten, ME. Don and Jean made their home in Glastonbury where they raised their family.  In 1974 they started Heritage Auto Body which they owned and operated for almost 30 years.  Don was involved in the local community and supported many civic and service organizations.  Don was a charter member of the Glastonbury Kiwanis Club and Masonic Temple AF and AM in South Glastonbury.  He loved traveling to his homes in Maine and Florida, stopping in Glastonbury to catch up with family and friends. He had a passion for all outdoor activities and took great pride in maintaining his homes and mowing his acres of land in Patten. He loved spending time with friends and family, playing a spirited game of cards or reminiscing about old times.  

Don is survived by his son and daughter, 4 grandchildren and 6 great-children:  John Kilgore and his wife Robin (Dickau) of Stuart, FL; daughter Bonnie (Kilgore) Clark, and her husband Gary of Glastonbury, his grandchildren Chelsea (Kilgore) and her husband JJ Redick of Brooklyn, NY; Kylee Kilgore and her husband Hadi Fakhoury of Brooklyn, NY; Travis Clark and his wife Kate (Bailey) Clark of Coventry, and LIndsey (Clark) Long and her husband Michael of Glastonbury; and his precious great-grandchildren, Knox, Kai, Nash, Caroline, Julia and Fiona. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 14th at 11:00 a.m. at the Congregational Church in South Glastonbury, 949 Main St., South Glastonbury.  In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or Treasure Coast Hospice of Stuart, FL. Burial will be in Patten, ME next summer.
