Obituary of Francis "Dick" Price

Francis “Dick” Price, 76, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Phyllis (Murphy) Price, died Sunday October 20, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. Born April 17, 1943 in Stamford, son of the late Francis J. and Sara (McNamara) Price he had lived in Glastonbury for the past 53 years. Dick graduated from Fairfield Prep, the University of Detroit and received his Masters from RPI. Dick worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft from 1966 until his retirement in 2005. He served as Chief of Turbine Aerodynamics for many years. He was a Senior Member of the Fellows Programs of outstanding Mentors and Technical Experts and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.  Dick was a faithful member of St. Dunstan Church, volunteering as needed. Dick’s work ethic was a model to all. No matter what he did, he always wanted to make it better. Woodworking was one of his passions, creating beautiful furniture and gifts for family and friends. Modeling was a hobby since childhood, evolving into making and flying RC airplanes. He loved the outdoors, working in the yard, vacationing in national parks and visiting his beloved island of St. John. Family trips to St. John created special memories. The family wishes to thank the professionals of the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center for their compassionate care. Besides his wife Dick is survived by his 3 children and their spouses Richard and Carol Price of Charlottesville, VA,  Eily and David Stern of Ladera Ranch, CA, Elaine and David Prause of Portland, OR, 5 grandchildren, Colin, Andrew and Ryan Price, Benjamin and Madeline Stern and several cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday Oct. 25 at 11am in St. Dunstan Church, 1345 Manchester Rd., Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Thursday Oct. 24 from 5-7pm.
