Obituary of Leota Proctor
Leota (Banks) Proctor, 94, of Glastonbury died Wednesday, November 7th, 2012 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Leota was born March 29th, 1918 in Petersham, Massachusetts, the third of five children to Percy and Hilda Banks. She graduated from Petersham High School in 1936 and then met her husband of 56 years, Raymond. Ray and Leota moved to Glastonbury in the 50's when Ray took a job with Arbor Acres, they spent several years in Italy with their 2 children as part of Ray's work, a time they remember fondly. Leota loved the outdoors; some of her favorite memories were of family camping trips throughout New England. Leota was an active member of the John Tom Hill Community Club and was well known for her homemade mac & cheese. The greatest joy of Leota's life was time spent with her family and friends, she will always be known as "Auntie Lote" to her many nieces and nephews. Her teasing sense of humor, generosity, and kind spirit will be missed by all who had the fortune to have met her. Leota was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; daughter Karen; and four brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son and daughter in law ,Gary and Karen Proctor of Bolton; sister in law, Barbara Banks, of Manchester; granddaughter Kristen Davey of Bolton, grand son Kevin McDermott of Girdwood AK, granddaughter Meaghan Cooperman of Glastonbury, and five great grandchildren, Kieran Davey, Madison and Gavin Cooperman, Eleanor and Raymond McDermott. Funeral service will be held Saturday Nov. 10 at 2:00pm in the Buckingham Congregational Church, 16 Cricket Lane, Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Buckingham Cemetery.
